Is your “purpose” failing you?

Everyone eventually asks themselves the question, “what is my purpose?” This is a GREAT question, and I hope I have an answer for you.

I used to believe that my purpose was based in something that I could do or accomplish. A specific thing that I would be known for one day, or something that can be confined into my own life’s mission statement. Maybe it was a platform that I would one day have, or a business, or an identity I can be known as - like “mother,” “wife,” “advocate,” “business owner.”

The issue is…when you have this narrow of a definition of “purpose,” it requires you to be the main one in control, and places you at the center. You might become stuck in making big life decisions because…what if it’s not your purpose? What if God doesn’t want that for you? What if I’m “missing it?”

I HAVE GOOD NEWS.

Our purpose is clearly stated in the Bible, and can be boiled down to this: To be with God.

Now, life doesn’t end there. There is fruit to being with God. The presence of God will call you UNTO something. If your life doesn’t look, feel, or sound different after meeting God, then I’m not sure who you met with…I digress.

1 Corinthians 10: 31 says, “So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.” Because we were created from God, and made for Him, we are to bring Him glory in everything that we do. Everything!

The question then becomes, “how do you want me to bring You glory?”

Look at what God has placed in your life - your mind, words, actions, skills, talents, abilities, relationships, community, knowledge, interests, opportunities, etc., and then ask Him what He wants you to do with it! I’m not saying that it’s easy, but it’s much more simple than we make it out to be.

AND I HAVE BAD NEWS…FOR SOME OF YOU.

What if your purpose had less to do with you, and more to do with Him? This is bad news for those of you who love navel-gazing. But great news for you who want to rest in Jesus and be free to create and do something with what He gave them. You don’t have to wait until you “arrive” at a certain place, or you finally have that platform or position that you’ve been waiting for. It starts now, because God is calling you to be with Him now, in everything you do.

And that “thing” you are hoping to achieve? Subscribe to my newsletter! I want to see Kingdom-minded people like YOU who know their purpose give everything to Him, including the businesses that they build! Stick around and we’ll talk business.
